"The best way to describe or think about vision therapy is like physiotherapy for the eyes"
Orthoptic Vision Therapy
Vision therapy is recommended to improve coordination and posture of the eyes, while strengthening the individual visual skills such as Eye Teaming, Tracking & Focusing.

It's important to note that vision therapy is not limited to a particular age group, however the type and severity of the problem can impact when vision therapy is deemed to be most beneficial and effective.
Our Vision Therapy Program

Therapy involves regular sessions (these may be weekly or fortnightly) with prescribed activities for home-work.

Generally speaking, we have found therapy to last approximately between:
-
10-20 sessions for problems with Binocular Vision (see: Visual Skills Dysfunction)
-
20-30 sessions for patients with Eye Turns (see: Strabismus) and/or Lazy Eyes (see: Amblyopia)
-
20-30 sessions for problems with Visual Information Processing (see: Visual Information Processing)
Commitment & consistency to the sessions & home activities is vital for the success of the program.

Before therapy can be discussed, an Orthoptic Assessment is required to establish a baseline for vision and functional visual skills.

Therapy sessions are eligible for a rebate with most private health insurers (check that you're covered for 'Eye Therapy'). We are also registered NDIS providers for Orthoptic therapy.
